It is somehow fitting that Number 300 should be a surprise. I headed out and setup at the Little Street Crossing, near the northside of Sumas Mountain. My intention was to video some full-length freights using some longer shots. Moments after the camera was mounted on the tripod, the crossing was being called at Sumas Mountain Road. I powered on and zoomed in and found VIA Rail Canada Number One headed west into Vancouver, apparently quite a few minutes later than usual. A total surprise.
